The Terms: The tabernacle consisted of two divisions to which a graduated scale of holiness is attached: "The veil shall separate unto you between the holy place and the most holy" ( Exodus 26:33 ). This distinction was never abrogated. In the Epistle to the Hebrews these divisions are called the "first" and "second" tabernacles ( Hebrews 9:6 ). WebThe ark was kept in the holiest, innermost room, separated from the rest of the tabernacle by a veil. This veil symbolizes our separation from the presence of God because of the Fall. Other than Moses, we know of only one person who could enter that “most holy place” ( Exodus 26:34 )—the high priest.
